Field Signals

Oracle rebrands CloudWorld to AI World
Impact: Messaging is now applied AI across Fusion and industry apps. Expect agent SKUs and entitlement shifts.
Action: Add an agent governance block to every Oracle deal. Ask for SKU, tenancy and data boundary specifics.

Broadcom ships 800G Thor Ultra NIC and 102.4 Tbps Tomahawk 6
Impact: UEC aligned Ethernet becomes the default AI fabric. 1.6T class ports change optics, power and airflow budgets.
Action: Re baseline DC designs to 800G leaf spine. Pre book 1.6T optics and validate congestion control and NIC thermals.

EU tightens data centre sustainability and reporting cadence
Impact: Annual reporting into the EU database is now procurement grade compliance. Rating scheme in flight.
Action: Add EED metrics to acceptance criteria. Align exports to the EU schema.

Playbook Drop

800G fabric readiness
People: DC lead, network architect, procurement.
Artefacts: target rack map, optics and NIC BoM, lab booking.

Script:

  1. Set frame. “We validate 800G now. One owner. One date.”

  2. Scope. “Target racks for AI and analytics. State density per rack and east–west traffic.”

  3. Design. “Do we have an 800G leaf spine plan today. Yes or no.”

  4. Proof. “In lab we will prove ECN, queue depth, congestion control and failover under load. Who owns the 2 day plan and by when.”

  5. Supply. “Name the exact NIC and optics SKUs to hold. Lock a lead time and a hold date. Add airflow and power deltas for 1.6T ports.”

  6. Risk. “If UEC interop fails across vendors we pick plan B now. Specify the alternate NIC and optics set.”

  7. Close. “Repeat owner and date. Next meeting is artefacts only.”

Why now: Broadcom announced Thor Ultra, an 800G UEC compliant NIC, today. Tomahawk 6 at 102.4 Tbps is already in market. Buyers will expect an Ethernet AI fabric plan, not promises.

Benchmark Snap

748 EU data centres analysed in the Commission’s October assessment based on Article 12(5) submissions to 24 April 2025. SE implication: EU buyers will ask for your KPI pack. Bake PUE, WUE, IT load, heat reuse and renewable share into acceptance.

Tool in Focus

Amazon CloudWatch Generative AI Observability
What it does: End to end telemetry for gen AI apps, including Bedrock AgentCore agents. Traces prompts, latencies, usage, errors and agent behaviour.
Where it fits: SE Stage: demo evidence and SE Stage: objections. Replace trust with traces in PoCs.

Test in 15 minutes:

  1. In a sandbox, trigger a simple Bedrock AgentCore flow.

  2. Open CloudWatch, GenAI Observability, AgentCore tab.

  3. Fire 3 to 5 interactions. Confirm spans show model, tools, knowledge base and latency.

  4. Export an investigation view as a PoC artefact.

Pricing note: No special SKU. Standard CloudWatch metrics, logs and traces charges apply. Watch ingest.

Role Intel

Enterprise SE, VMware dependent estate
Context: Hosting partner is a non invited VCSP. Renewal in Q4.
Field trick: Open with a binary check. “Are you invited under the new VCSP or not.” If no, present two concrete paths on one slide. Path A invited VCSP proof and renewal dates. Path B BYOL to hyperscaler or VCF migration with listed cut offs and licence risks.
Outcome in practice: less time debating rumours, more time scoping exit plans.
